Alternative Ending..

I chose to recreate a different ending to Finis because I was really attracted to the short clips of romance Pollack included. I never really thought anything was going to happen between Eastwood and Alice, but as the story went on I noticed the chemistry Pollack was explaining.

Original Ending:

Presently the east commenced to grow luminous, and this time there could be no doubt as to what was coming.

Alice crept closer to the man as the grey light rose upon the watery air.

“Kiss me!” she whispered suddenly, throwing her arms around his neck. He could feel her trembling. “Say you love me; hold me in your arms. There is only an hour.”

“Don’t be afraid. Try to face it bravely,” stammered Eastwood.

“I don’t fear it—not death. But I have never lived. I have always been timid and wretched and afraid—afraid to speak—and I’ve almost wished for suffering and misery or anything rather than to be stupid and dumb and dead, the way I’ve always been.

“I’ve never dared to tell anyone what I was, what I wanted. I’ve been afraid all my life, but I’m not afraid now. I have never lived; I have never been happy; and now we must die together!”

It seemed to Eastwood the cry of the perishing world. He held her in his arms and kissed her wet, tremulous face that was strained to his.

The twilight was gone before they knew it. The sky was blue already, with crimson flakes mounting to the zenith, and the heat was growing once more intense.

“This is the end, Alice,” said Eastwood, and his voice trembled.

She looked at him, her eyes shining with an unearthly softness and brilliancy, and turned her face to the east.

There, in crimson and orange, flamed the last dawn that human eyes would ever see.

New Ending:

Presently the east commenced to grow luminous, and this time there could be no doubt as to what was coming.

Alice crept closer to the man as the grey light rose upon the watery air.

“Kiss me!” she whispered suddenly, throwing her arms around his neck. He could feel her trembling. “Say you love me; hold me in your arms. There is only an hour.”

Eastwood looks at Alice with deep concern, sweat dripping down his face and fire in his eyes, literally.

He grabs her head and pushes his lips into Alice’s.

“Don’t worry Alice, I’m going to get us out of here”

Eastwood heads for the door as he grabs onto Alice’s arm firmly, “follow me!” he says.

Alice and Eastwood run frantically down the stairs of the Science Building as the light beams closer and closer.

They reach the closest exit and as they step outside, the light glares down on them as if they were in the center of the spotlight. Their faces look up into the “sun” and their faces become white and their blinded by the brightness.

Eastwood puts his hand over his eyes to cover the shade, then he realizes the spotlight wasn’t from the sun. It was from some type of UFO in the sky.

Eastwood looks up with confusion “wh-wha-what is that?” he says with fear.

Alice looking up too, “what is what?” saying blindly.

The UFO gets closer, and closer and down comes a long, glowing ramp.

Down the ramp comes a ginormous, slimy, freakish looking alien with a balloon shaped head and slimy, slinky like fingers.

The alien doesn’t speak English, so Alice and Eastwood are at a loss of words.

The alien uses his arm to gesture to aboard the UFO, in a friendly manner.

Eastwood and Alice look at each other, shrug their shoulders and aboard the UFO.
